Moving from MasterCook

MasterCook is gone. Your recipes don't have to be.

MasterCook was home to decades of family cooking. Now that it's no longer supported, those collections are stuck in files most apps can't read. Pepita was built to open them.

Three steps to move your collection

  1. Export from MasterCook. Open each cookbook in the MasterCook desktop app, choose Select All, then File > Export and save it as a .mz2 file. Do this soon: MasterCook's cloud service is ending.
  2. Drop the files into Pepita. Pepita reads .mz2 and .mx2 exports, including cookbooks, categories, notes and serving sizes.
  3. Check the import report. Pepita tells you exactly what came over and flags anything it couldn't read, so nothing disappears quietly.

Built on a real collection

Pepita's importer was built and tested on one family's 6,000-recipe MasterCook collection, gathered over more than 40 years, including files other tools choke on.

Have an older format, like .mxp, .mc2 or .mcf? Send a sample to hello@hellopepita.com and we'll work on it.

Then keep cooking

Once your recipes are in, plan the week, build one grocery list, share your Kitchen with family, and export everything again anytime. Early waitlist families get help moving their collection.
